The Ugly American

The 1963 American drama film, based on the novel of the same name by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer, follows Harrison Carter MacWhite (Marlon Brando), appointed as the U.S. ambassador to the fictional Southeast Asian country of Sarkhan. His wife, Marion (Sandra Church), witnesses his struggle with moral dilemmas and complex decisions.
