Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer, born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario, to Ethiopian immigrant parents. He began his musical career in 2009 and anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube in 2010 under the pseudonym The Weeknd. In 2011, he released three mixtapes: "House of Balloons," "Thursday," and "Echoes of Silence," which received critical acclaim and led to a deal with Republic Records. In 2012, he released the compilation album "Trilogy," featuring remastered versions of the mixtapes and three new tracks. His 2013 album "Kiss Land" was followed by "Beauty Behind the Madness" in 2015, which brought him international fame with hits like "Can't Feel My Face" and "The Hills." In 2016, he released "Starboy," and in 2018, the EP "My Dear Melancholy." His 2020 album "After Hours" included the single "Blinding Lights," which became the longest-charting song in Billboard Hot 100 history and the most-streamed track on Spotify. He performed at the Super Bowl LV halftime show in 2021. In 2022, he released "Dawn FM," and in 2025, "Hurry Up Tomorrow," accompanied by a film of the same name in which he starred.
