Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz

A 2011 American animated musical comedy crossover film produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Turner Entertainment. The film combines the characters of the classic "Tom and Jerry" cartoon series with the storyline of the renowned 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz," which is based on L. Frank Baum's novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." The plot follows Tom (William Hanna) and Jerry (Joe Alaskey), who live on a farm in Kansas with Dorothy (Grey DeLisle), her Aunt Em (Frances Conroy), and Uncle Henry (Stephen Root). During a tornado, Tom and Jerry are transported to the magical land of Oz, where they embark on a journey down the yellow brick road to find Dorothy and her dog, Toto. Along the way, they meet the Scarecrow (Michael Gough), the Tin Man (Rob Paulsen), and the Cowardly Lion (Todd Stashwick), who join them on their quest to reach the Emerald City and meet the Wizard (Joe Alaskey). However, the Wicked Witch of the West (Laraine Newman) seeks to obtain Dorothy's magical ruby slippers and sends her flying monkeys to stop the group. Tom and Jerry, despite their usual disagreements, work together to protect Dorothy and her friends from various dangers, including attacks from the witch and her minions. Ultimately, with the help of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North (Frances Conroy), Dorothy learns that she can return home by clicking her heels together three times and repeating, "There's no place like home." The film blends elements of the original movie with new scenes and characters, including cameos from other MGM cartoon characters. The musical score features classic songs from the original film, such as "Over the Rainbow" and "We're Off to See the Wizard," along with a new soundtrack composed by Michael Tavera. The film received positive reviews for preserving the spirit of the original and successfully integrating Tom and Jerry into the classic story.​
