Moana

A 2016 American animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and produced by Osnat Shurer, the screenplay was written by Jared Bush based on a story developed by Clements, Musker, Chris Williams, Don Hall, Pamela Ribon, and the brothers Aaron and Jordan Kandell. The film is set in the ancient Polynesian world and follows Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), a brave and determined daughter of the chief on the island of Motunui. When their island begins to suffer from crop failures and disappearing fish, Moana, heeding the call of the ocean, embarks on a perilous journey to save her people. Her mission is to find the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) and return the heart he stole from the goddess Te Fiti, which should restore nature's balance. Throughout their voyage, Moana and Maui face various challenges, including a battle with the giant crab Tamatoa (Jemaine Clement) and confronting the lava demon Te Kā. Through these trials, Moana discovers her true destiny and strength, as well as the importance of following her inner voice. The film received critical acclaim for its animation, music, and character development, and was nominated for Academy Awards in the categories of Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "How Far I'll Go".
