Astronomy

A scientific and observational practice focused on the study of celestial bodies, their movement, structure, origin, and evolution, which originated in ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and South America long before the Common Era. Initially used for calendar creation, seasonal tracking, navigation, and religious rituals, astronomy became an essential component of mythology and cultural systems. Over time, it developed into a rigorous science, especially with advances in mathematics and the invention of the telescope in the 17th century. The practice of astronomy includes both visual observations of stars, planets, and moons, and the use of modern telescopes, radio interferometers, satellites, and space observatories to collect data about the Universe. Astronomy is divided into numerous branches: observational, theoretical, planetary, stellar, galactic, cosmology, and more. Amateur astronomy is also widespread, with people using telescopes and participating in astronomy clubs as a form of education and leisure.
