Away All Boats

The 1956 American war film directed by Joseph Pevney, based on Kenneth M. Dodson's novel of the same name, chronicles the service of the crew aboard the attack transport USS Belinda (APA-22) during World War II in the Pacific theater. Captain Jebediah S. Hawks (Jeff Chandler), a seasoned naval officer, assumes command of the ship, which is manned primarily by inexperienced recruits. His mission is to transform this diverse group into a cohesive and combat-ready team. Among his officers is Lieutenant Dave MacDougall (George Nader), a former merchant marine captain assigned as the boat group commander. Despite personal differences, Hawks and MacDougall learn to collaborate effectively to prepare the crew for upcoming battles.
