Between Two Ferns: The Movie

A 2019 American comedy directed by Scott Aukerman, serving as a spin-off of the web series "Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis." In the film, Zach Galifianakis plays a fictionalized version of himself, hosting a low-budget public access talk show. After Will Ferrell (playing himself) discovers the show and uploads it to Funny or Die, Zach becomes an internet laughingstock due to his awkward hosting style. During an interview with Matthew McConaughey (playing himself), an accident occurs: a malfunctioning fire sprinkler system floods the studio, nearly drowning Matthew. This incident attracts massive attention, and Ferrell offers Zach a deal to produce ten new episodes in two weeks, promising him his own late-night TV show. Zach embarks on a road trip with his crew, including manager Carol (Lauren Lapkus), cameraman Cam (Ryan Gaul), and assistant Boom Boom (Jiavani Linayao), to record interviews with various celebrities, including David Letterman, Paul Rudd, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Jon Hamm, Hailee Steinfeld, Awkwafina, Tiffany Haddish, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tessa Thompson. Throughout the journey, the team faces various challenges, including financial issues and personal conflicts. In one episode, Carol steals Fabergé eggs from Peter Dinklage to fund their trip. Despite the obstacles, Zach and his team complete the shoots and return to Los Angeles, where Zach is offered his own late-night show. However, realizing the value of his team and unique format, he decides to continue producing "Between Two Ferns." The film explores themes of friendship, ambition, and self-realization, blending absurd humor with satire of the entertainment industry.
