Black Box

The 2021 French-Belgian mystery thriller "Black Box" (original title "Boîte noire"), directed by Yann Gozlan, centers on a talented black box analyst, Mathieu Vasseur (Pierre Niney), working at the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety. He is tasked with investigating the mysterious crash of an Atrian 800 aircraft over the French Alps, which resulted in the deaths of all passengers and crew. Analyzing the cockpit voice recorder, Mathieu detects sounds suggesting a possible intrusion into the cockpit before the crash, leading him to suspect a terrorist attack. However, as he delves deeper into the investigation, he encounters conflicting evidence and hidden motives, casting doubt on the initial conclusions and leading to unexpected revelations. The film received positive reviews from critics and garnered five nominations at the 47th César Awards.
