South Korean girl group formed in 2016 in Seoul by YG Entertainment, consisting of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The group debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album "Square One," featuring the songs "Whistle" and "Boombayah," which quickly topped the charts in South Korea and the United States. Since then, BLACKPINK has become one of the most influential K-pop groups globally, known for their unique style that blends pop, EDM, hip-hop, and trap elements. Their second studio album, "Born Pink," released in 2022, became the first album by a Korean female group to top both the Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart, with the single "Pink Venom" becoming the first song by a Korean group to reach number one on Australia's ARIA chart. The group is also known for breaking records on YouTube and Spotify, becoming the most-viewed and most-subscribed female group on these platforms. Their "Born Pink World Tour" (2022–2023) became the highest-grossing tour by a female group and Asian act in history, grossing $330 million and attracting 1.8 million attendees. BLACKPINK has received numerous awards, including Golden Disc Awards, MAMA Awards, People's Choice Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards, becoming the first girl group to win "Group of the Year" in the 21st century. In 2023, the members were honored as Honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire for their contributions to climate change awareness. The group is also actively involved in the fashion industry and serves as ambassadors for several global brands.
