German pop singer, born on July 31, 1964, in Oss, Netherlands, began her musical career in 1983, becoming one of the most prominent figures in the Eurodisco and synth-pop genres of the 1980s. After moving to West Germany in 1979, she joined the female pop group Optimal, but her breakthrough came in 1985 when composer and producer Dieter Bohlen, a member of the duo Modern Talking, noticed her at a music competition and offered collaboration. Under the stage name C. C. Catch, where "C. C." represents her initials, she released her debut single "I Can Lose My Heart Tonight," which became a hit across Europe. In the following years, she released successful albums such as "Catch the Catch" (1986), "Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel" (1986), "Like a Hurricane" (1987), "Big Fun" (1988), and "Hear What I Say" (1989), the latter produced without Bohlen's involvement and incorporating elements of house, funk, and new jack swing. Her most notable songs include "'Cause You Are Young," "Strangers by Night," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Heaven and Hell," "Are You Man Enough," "Soul Survivor," and "Backseat of Your Cadillac." After a hiatus, she returned to the music scene in 1998 with remixes of her hits and continued performing, including a collaboration with Chris Norman in 2014 and the release of the single "Heal Me" in 2024. C. C. Catch remains popular in Eastern European countries, including Latvia, and continues to tour actively, maintaining her status as an icon of the 80s.
