The 1978 British war adventure film, directed by Guy Hamilton, serves as a sequel to the 1961 film "The Guns of Navarone" and is based on Alistair MacLean's 1968 novel of the same name. Set in 1943, the story follows Major Keith Mallory (Robert Shaw) and Sergeant Dusty Miller (Edward Fox), veterans of the previous mission to destroy German artillery, as they are tasked with locating and eliminating a German spy, Nicolai (Franco Nero), who had previously betrayed their operation. To accomplish this, they join the American special unit "Force 10," led by Colonel Mike Barnsby (Harrison Ford), and venture into Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Upon arrival, they face numerous challenges: establishing contact with local partisans, internal conflicts within the team, and the revelation that Nicolai is operating under the alias Captain Lescovar. A critical objective becomes the destruction of a strategically vital bridge used for German supply lines. The film also features Barbara Bach as partisan Maritza, Carl Weathers as Sergeant Weaver, and Richard Kiel as Captain Drazak. Despite its star-studded cast and thrilling narrative, the film received mixed reviews from critics, who noted its loose connection to the original novel and predecessor film. Nonetheless, it garnered audience attention for its dynamic combat sequences and the tense atmosphere characteristic of a spy thriller.
