Is the practice of human interaction with horses, including care, training, handling, and cooperative activity, which emerged with the domestication of horses in Central Asia around 4000 BCE. Initially used for transportation, hunting, agriculture, and warfare, it evolved into a broad system of knowledge, skills, and philosophies encompassing both physical and emotional connection with the animal. Horsemanship requires a deep understanding of horse behavior, the ability to build trust, and technical expertise in grooming, saddling, training, and riding. Over history, distinct traditions developed, including European classical riding, American cowboy practices, Cossack riding, and Eastern methods based on non-violent communication. Today, horsemanship includes many areas: competitive riding, therapeutic riding, performance shows, patrolling, and farm labor. Numerous disciplines have emerged such as show jumping, dressage, Western riding, and natural horsemanship, which emphasizes gentle interaction and respect for the horse's nature. This practice blends knowledge of anatomy, psychology, veterinary care, and ethics, and remains an essential part of rural life, modern sports, and therapeutic practices.
