Inferno

A 1999 American action film directed by John G. Avildsen. The film was Avildsen's last before his death in 2017. The story centers on Eddie Lomax (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a tormented veteran searching for meaning in life. Traveling through the desert on his Indian motorcycle, he intends to end his life, but his plans are disrupted when a gang of criminals from a nearby town assaults him and steals his motorcycle. Following this, Eddie decides to take revenge on his attackers. Along his journey, he encounters various townspeople, including Johnny Sixtoes (Danny Trejo), an old friend who helps him recover after the assault, and a kind-hearted diner owner named Rhonda Reynolds (Gabrielle Fitzpatrick). He also confronts a local businessman named Mr. Singh (Pat Morita), who plays an ambiguous role in the unfolding events. The film combines elements of classic Westerns and action movies, exploring themes of revenge, redemption, and the search for life's purpose. The plot is loosely based on the 1961 Japanese film "Yojimbo" directed by Akira Kurosawa.
