The story follows Jesper (Jason Schwartzman), a spoiled and lazy postman who is sent to the remote, freezing town of Smeerensburg. Simmons), and a local teacher, Alva (Rashida Jones). Together, they find a way to bring the community together, inspire children to write letters, and unknowingly establish the tradition that will become the legend of Santa Claus.
