The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special

The 2017 American animated television special in the comedy genre, directed by Don Roy King and produced in the United States, is based on the popular Saturday Night Live character David S. Pumpkins, who first appeared in the 2016 sketch "Haunted Elevator." Tom Hanks reprises his role as the eccentric character dressed in a black-and-orange pumpkin suit. The script was written by Mikey Day, Bobby Moynihan, and Streeter Seidell, who also voice the skeleton sidekicks accompanying Pumpkins. Peter Dinklage serves as the narrator, voicing adult Kevin, who recalls events from his childhood. The story begins with Kevin and his younger sister Dotty going out for Halloween and discovering an unusual pumpkin, from which David S. Pumpkins and two skeletons emerge. They take the children on a journey in a strawberry-shaped "Pumpkinmobile" to retrieve stolen candy taken by the mysterious Raincoat Man. Throughout their adventure, the heroes face various obstacles and learn that the villain is actually three pre-teens who had previously bullied Kevin. Using magical floating pumpkins, Pumpkins returns the candy to the children and disappears as mysteriously as he appeared. The special combines elements of comedy, absurdity, and festive spirit, maintaining the enigma and uniqueness of the original character. It premiered on NBC on October 28, 2017.​
