Looper

An American science fiction action-thriller film from 2012, directed by Rian Johnson. Set in 2044, the story follows 25-year-old Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who works for a Kansas City crime syndicate as a contract killer known as a "looper." In 2074, tracking individuals has become nearly impossible, so crime bosses send their enemies back in time, where loopers eliminate them and dispose of the bodies. Managed by a man from the future named Abe (Jeff Daniels), loopers are paid in silver bars for each kill. When it's time to "close the loop," a looper must kill their future self, receiving gold bars and retiring. One day, Joe encounters his future self (Bruce Willis), who arrives unhooded and unbound, allowing him to escape. Old Joe intends to alter the future by killing a child who will grow up to become a powerful crime lord known as the "Rainmaker." In an attempt to prevent this, young Joe finds a farm where Sara (Emily Blunt) lives with her son Cid (Pierce Gagnon), who possesses strong telekinetic abilities. The film explores themes of fate, free will, and the consequences of choice, blending elements of science fiction, action, and thriller genres.
