Machete

The 2010 American exploitation action film directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis is an expansion of a fake trailer featured in the 2007 film "Grindhouse." The protagonist, Machete Cortez (Danny Trejo), is a former Mexican Federal agent betrayed by his corrupt boss and left for dead by drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal), who murders his wife. Three years later, Machete, now living in Texas, is hired to assassinate anti-immigration Senator John McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) but is set up and becomes a target himself. With the help of activist Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), ICE agent Sartana Rivera (Jessica Alba), and his priest brother Padre (Cheech Marin), Machete assembles a network of immigrants to fight corruption and seek revenge. The film also features Lindsay Lohan as the antagonist's daughter and Jeff Fahey as Michael Booth, the mastermind behind the conspiracy. Blending satire, violence, and social commentary, the film addresses issues of immigration and political corruption. It spawned a sequel, "Machete Kills" (2013), and a third installment, "Machete Kills Again... In Space," has been announced.
