Moby

American musician, DJ, composer, and producer, born on September 11, 1965, in Harlem, New York, and raised in Darien, Connecticut. He began studying music at the age of nine, learning classical guitar, and later mastering piano, drums, and bass guitar. In 1983, he joined the punk band Vatican Commandos, and in the early 1990s gained recognition as a DJ and producer in the New York electronic scene. His breakthrough came with the track "Go" (1991), followed by several albums including "Everything Is Wrong" (1995) and "Animal Rights" (1996), showcasing a range of styles from techno to punk. In 1999, he released the album "Play," which became a global phenomenon due to its unique blend of electronic music with blues and gospel samples. All tracks from the album were licensed for films, commercials, and television, making it one of the most commercially successful electronic albums in history with over 12 million copies sold. In subsequent years, Moby continued to experiment with genres, releasing albums such as "18" (2002), "Hotel" (2005), "Wait for Me" (2009), "Destroyed" (2011), "Innocents" (2013), "Reprise" (2021) featuring orchestral versions of his hits, and "Always Centered at Night" (2024), which includes collaborations with various vocalists. Beyond his musical career, Moby is known for his active stance on animal rights, veganism, and involvement in charitable projects. He is also the author of two autobiographies: "Porcelain: A Memoir" (2016) and "Then It Fell Apart" (2019), in which he candidly discusses his life, struggles with addiction, and journey towards personal healing. In 2024, he announced his first concert tour in ten years to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album "Play," with all proceeds directed to support European animal rights organizations.
