Mr. Nobody

A 2009 European science fiction drama film directed by Belgian filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael. The film is an international co-production between Belgium, France, Germany, and Canada, and marks Van Dormael's first English-language feature. The story centers on Nemo Nobody (Jared Leto), the last mortal human in a future world where humanity has achieved immortality. At 118 years old, Nemo reflects on various possible versions of his life, starting from childhood when he had to choose between living with his mother (Natasha Little) or father (Rhys Ifans) after their divorce. These choices lead to multiple alternative lives, including relationships with three women: Anna (Diane Kruger), Elise (Sarah Polley), and Jeanne (Linh Dan Pham). The film explores concepts of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, chaos theory, and the butterfly effect, illustrating how each decision can lead to different life paths.
