A 1993 American action film directed by Robert Harmon. The story follows Sam Gillen (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a convict who escapes from prison with the help of his partner-in-crime, Billy (Anthony Starke). During the escape, Billy is fatally shot, leaving Sam on the run. He seeks refuge near the farm of widow Clydie Anderson (Rosanna Arquette) and her two children, Mike (Kieran Culkin) and Bree (Tiffany Taubman). Clydie is under pressure from corrupt developer Franklin Hale (Joss Ackland), who aims to force her off her land to make way for his construction project. Hale employs the ruthless enforcer Mr. Dunston (Ted Levine) to intimidate Clydie and her family. Witnessing the injustice, Sam decides to protect Clydie and her children. Over time, a romantic relationship develops between Sam and Clydie, while Mike begins to see Sam as a father figure. However, local sheriff Lonnie Poole (Edward Blatchford), who is also romantically interested in Clydie, becomes suspicious of Sam's true identity. Tensions escalate as Dunston and his men increase their violent tactics against Clydie. In a climactic confrontation, Sam utilizes his combat skills to defeat Hale's henchmen, ultimately exposing Hale's criminal activities and leading to his arrest. Realizing that his presence endangers Clydie and her children, Sam chooses to surrender to the authorities, hoping for leniency due to his honorable actions. The film was praised for its intense action sequences and emotional depth, showcasing Van Damme's ability to portray a more dramatic role.
