Is the practice of launching bullets or projectiles using a wide variety of firearms and simulated weapons, ranging from real guns to pneumatic, gas-powered, spring-loaded, electronic, and toy-based alternatives. Projectile shooting includes multiple forms: competitive sports shooting, hunting, self-defense, military training, recreational games, historical reenactments, and hobby activities. For instance, air rifles and pistols are commonly used in training and precision sports; firearms are used in combat, law enforcement, and hunting; Nerf blasters, which fire foam darts, are popular in children's games and competitive arenas; airsoft and paintball markers simulate tactical engagements; and toy cap guns are often used in imaginative play. This practice requires precision, discipline, concentration, adherence to safety protocols, and mastery of specific shooting techniques. Historically, shooting developed with the invention of early gunpowder-based muskets in China between the 10th and 12th centuries, then expanded to Europe and the rest of the world. Over time, shooting became deeply integrated into military, sporting, and recreational cultures. Today, practitioners engage in Olympic disciplines (such as rifle and skeet shooting), train in gun ranges and clubs, and participate in themed games, tournaments, and festivals. A critical component of this practice is the culture of safety, responsibility, and control surrounding all forms of projectile shooting — from a professional firearm to a child's Nerf gun.
