This is a physical and expressive practice that combines acrobatic movements, running, and jumping on all fours, inspired by the behavior of animals—especially wolves and other quadruped predators. It emerged around 2014 in the United States within online communities of teenagers and young adults connected to furry fandoms, therianthropy, and other alternative subcultures seeking bodily self-expression and identification with animalistic or non-human forms. The practice does not have a single founder but evolved organically through digital platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Tumblr, where participants began sharing videos of their workouts and movement experiments. The core of quadrobics consists of quadrupedal motion including high jumps, galloping runs, sharp turns, and behavior that mimics hunting, fleeing, and spatial exploration. It requires endurance, coordination, flexibility, strength in both arms and legs, as well as a high degree of bodily control and balance. Practitioners often wear tails, ears, or costume elements to enhance the impression of animal-like movement. Though not an official sport, quadrobics blends elements of parkour, acrobatics, physical training, and dance, creating a hybrid form of physical practice and visual performance. For some, it functions as a form of meditation, a way to connect with their "inner animal," or a method for exploring non-normative movement patterns. The practice continues to evolve, developing its own aesthetics, slang, technical vocabulary, and personal styles, while quadrobics videos accumulate millions of views and have become a notable part of Generation Z's internet culture.
