A 1967 American drama directed by John Huston, based on the novel of the same name by Carson McCullers. Set on a U.S. Army post in the South in the late 1940s, the film focuses on six central characters: Major Weldon Penderton (Marlon Brando), his wife Leonora (Elizabeth Taylor), Lieutenant Colonel Morris Langdon (Brian Keith), his wife Alison (Julie Harris), their flamboyant Filipino houseboy Anacleto (Zorro David), and Private L.G. Williams (Robert Forster). The film delves into themes of repressed sexuality, voyeurism, and murder. Leonora is devoted to her horse Firebird and is having an affair with Langdon, while her husband, Major Penderton, struggles with repressed homosexuality and a growing obsession with Williams, who secretly spies on Leonora by sneaking into her bedroom at night. Tensions escalate when Alison, depressed after the loss of her child, discovers her husband's infidelity and decides to divorce him, leading to tragic consequences for all involved.
