Reflections in a Golden Eye

A 1967 American drama directed by John Huston, based on the novel of the same name by Carson McCullers. The story unfolds in the South, on a U.S. Army post, in the late 1940s, and six people stand at its center: Major Weldon Penderton (Marlon Brando) and his wife Leonora (Elizabeth Taylor); Lieutenant Colonel Morris Langdon (Brian Keith) and his wife Alison (Julie Harris); Anacleto (Zorro David), the flamboyant Filipino houseboy of the Langdons; and Private L.G. Williams (Robert Forster). The film delves into themes of repressed sexuality, voyeurism, and murder. Leonora is devoted to her horse Firebird and is having an affair with Langdon, while her husband, Major Penderton, struggles with repressed homosexuality and a growing obsession with Williams, who secretly spies on Leonora by sneaking into her bedroom at night. Tensions escalate when Alison, depressed after the loss of her child, discovers her husband's infidelity and decides to divorce him, leading to tragic consequences for all involved.
