Rising Sun​

The 1993 American crime thriller directed by Philip Kaufman, based on Michael Crichton's novel, follows the investigation of a mysterious murder in Los Angeles. During the grand opening of the Nakamoto Corporation's skyscraper headquarters, the body of escort girl Cheryl Lynn Austin (Tatjana Patitz) is found strangled during a sexual encounter. Lieutenant Webster "Web" Smith (Wesley Snipes) and former police captain John Connor (Sean Connery), an expert on Japanese culture, are assigned to the case. They navigate cultural barriers and corporate intrigues to uncover the truth. Suspicion initially falls on Eddie Sakamura (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), the victim's boyfriend and an agent of a rival company, but it's soon revealed that surveillance footage from the crime scene has been tampered with. With the help of video technology expert Jingo Asakuma (Tia Carrere), the detectives discover that the real killer is American lawyer Bob Richmond (Kevin Anderson), who aims to conceal Senator John Morton's (Ray Wise) involvement in the incident.
