The 1993 American science fiction action film directed by Fred Dekker, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Dekker himself, concludes the original RoboCop trilogy. Set in a dystopian future Detroit, the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP), backed by the Japanese Kanemitsu Corporation, aims to implement the "Delta City" project by forcibly relocating residents of the Cadillac Heights neighborhood using the armed "Rehabilitators" unit led by Paul McDaggett (John Castle). During one such operation, RoboCop's partner, Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen), is killed, prompting Alex Murphy (Robert John Burke) to join the resistance led by young hacker Nikko Halloran (Remy Ryan). With the assistance of Dr. Marie Lazarus (Jill Hennessy), RoboCop recovers from his injuries and receives upgrades, including a jetpack. In the climactic battle, he confronts cybernetic ninjas called "Otomo," created by Kanemitsu, and prevents the city's destruction. This film marked the first in the series where RoboCop was portrayed by Robert John Burke instead of Peter Weller and was the first to utilize digital morphing in multiple scenes. Despite the return of composer Basil Poledouris, the film received negative reviews from critics and became the least successful in the trilogy, grossing $47 million against a $22 million budget.
