The 1983 American crime drama directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone is a remake of the 1932 film of the same name. It tells the story of Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino), who arrives in Miami during the 1980 Mariel boatlift. Driven by a desire for power and wealth, Tony starts with petty crimes and gradually ascends the criminal hierarchy to become a powerful drug lord. His close friend and associate, Manny Ribera (Steven Bauer), supports him throughout this journey. Tony marries Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer), the former girlfriend of his boss Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), whom he eliminates to take over his position. However, despite his achieved power, Tony grapples with inner demons, paranoia, and betrayal, ultimately leading to his downfall. The film is renowned for its violence, explicit depiction of the drug trade, and iconic lines such as "Say hello to my little friend!" The soundtrack was composed by Giorgio Moroder. Despite initially receiving mixed reviews, the film has since gained a cult status and has had a significant influence on pop culture, particularly within the hip-hop community.
