A 1987 American crime film set in 1930s Prohibition-era Chicago. Directed by Brian De Palma with a screenplay by David Mamet, the story is based on real events and follows federal agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) in his quest to bring down notorious gangster Al Capone (Robert De Niro). To combat Capone's criminal empire, Ness assembles a special team of three: seasoned police officer Jim Malone (Sean Connery), sharpshooter George Stone (Andy García), and accountant Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin Smith). Together, they become known as "The Untouchables" due to their incorruptibility and determination. The film intricately portrays their efforts to expose Capone's illegal activities, including alcohol smuggling and tax evasion. Throughout their mission, the team faces numerous dangers and losses, including Wallace's death. Malone is also assassinated by Capone's right-hand man, Frank Nitti (Billy Drago). Ultimately, Ness and Stone succeed in arresting and convicting Capone on charges of tax evasion. The film received critical and commercial acclaim, grossing over $106 million worldwide. Sean Connery was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Malone. The musical score, composed by Ennio Morricone, also garnered high praise.
