A role-playing video game developed by Russian studio BlackMark Studio and published by Akella, released in December 2012 for Windows. As the fifth installment in the Sea Dogs series, the game continues the tradition of its predecessors, immersing players in the Caribbean setting of the mid-17th century. The protagonist, Charles de Maure, is a young French nobleman who arrives in the New World to assist his imprisoned brother on the island of Martinique. What begins as a straightforward mission evolves into an enthralling adventure filled with dangers, battles, and unexpected twists. Players can explore an expansive open world comprising numerous islands, cities, and settlements, interact with various characters, undertake quests, engage in trade, crafting, alchemy, and participate in naval combat. The fencing system has been significantly overhauled, now featuring seven different types of strikes and feints, as well as considerations for weapon balance and other attributes. The game introduces an officer system, allowing players to recruit assistants with unique skills, and offers the ability to upgrade and manage one's own fleet. The graphics are powered by the Storm Engine 2.8, providing a distinctive visual style that, while somewhat dated by modern standards, contributes to the game's unique atmosphere. Despite its graphical limitations, the game received positive feedback for its deep narrative, diverse gameplay options, and the immersive portrayal of the pirate era.
