American DJ, producer, singer, and musician, born January 15, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. He began his musical career in 2002, forming his first bands during his teenage years, including The Riots and Hazel-rah. In 2004, he joined the post-hardcore band From First to Last as the lead vocalist, recording two studio albums: "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count" (2004) and "Heroine" (2006). He left the band in 2007 due to vocal cord issues and embarked on a solo career. In 2009, he released the EP "Gypsyhook", and in 2010, he introduced his debut EP under the moniker Skrillex — "My Name Is Skrillex", which was distributed for free on MySpace. That same year, he released his breakthrough EP "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites", earning him three Grammy Awards in 2012. In 2014, he released his debut studio album "Recess", which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2023, he presented two albums: "Quest for Fire" and "Don't Get Too Close", showcasing a range of genres from dubstep to pop music. In 2025, he unexpectedly released the album "F**k you Skrillex you think ur Andy Warhol but ur not!! <3", featuring 34 tracks and symbolizing the end of his collaboration with Atlantic Records and a return to his independent label OWSLA. Among his notable works are "Bangarang", "First of the Year (Equinox)", and "Where Are Ü Now" (with Diplo and Justin Bieber). Skrillex is considered a key figure in popularizing dubstep and electronic dance music in the 2010s. He has collaborated with artists such as Boys Noize (in the project Dog Blood), Diplo (in the duo Jack Ü), as well as Damian Marley, Missy Elliott, Four Tet, and others. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including eight Grammy Awards, and has significantly influenced the development of modern electronic music.
