Street Fighter

An American action film from 1994, directed by Steven E. de Souza, based on the video game series of the same name developed and published by Capcom. The film's plot unfolds in the fictional country of Shadaloo, where General M. Bison (Raul Julia), a ruthless dictator and leader of a terrorist organization, captures 63 humanitarian workers and demands a ransom of $20 billion. Colonel William F. Guile (Jean-Claude Van Damme), commanding the United Nations forces, leads a mission to rescue the hostages and overthrow Bison. During the operation, Guile teams up with various characters, including reporter Chun-Li Zang (Ming-Na Wen), seeking revenge for her father's death at Bison's hands; former wrestler fighters Edmond Honda (Peter Navy Tuiasosopo) and Balrog (Grand L. Bush), working with Chun-Li; as well as con artists and smugglers Ken Masters (Damian Chapa) and Ryu Hoshi (Byron Mann), who become entangled in the conflict after attempting to deceive arms dealer Victor Sagat (Wes Studi) and his bodyguard Vega (Jay Tavare). The film also features British agent Cammy White (Kylie Minogue), assisting Guile; Dr. Dhalsim (Roshan Seth), a scientist forced to work for Bison, transforming soldier Carlos Blanka (Robert Mammone) into the mutant Blanka; and officer Dee Jay (Miguel A. Núñez Jr.), working for Bison but seeking to avoid the consequences. The movie combines elements of action and comedy, showcasing spectacular fight scenes and interactions among characters. In the climax, Guile infiltrates Bison's fortress, battles him, and emerges victorious, thwarting the dictator's plans for world domination and freeing the hostages. The film received mixed reviews from critics but has gained a cult status among fans of the game series and action genre.
