The Cry of Silence

A 2019 war drama directed by Vladimir Potapov, based on true events. The story unfolds in besieged Leningrad during the harsh winter of 1942. The main character, 6-year-old Olga (Anfisa Vistingauzen), is left alone when her mother is hospitalized. She is found and taken under the protection of Ivan (Andrey Merzlikin), a former circus performer hiding from the authorities. Despite the horrors of war, extreme cold, and starvation, a heartfelt, almost familial bond forms between them. Ivan does everything he can to protect the girl and give her hope for survival during one of history’s darkest times.
