The Imitation Game

A 2014 biographical historical drama directed by Morten Tyldum, depicting the life of brilliant British mathematician and cryptanalyst Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch). During World War II, Turing joins a secret team of British codebreakers working to decipher the German Enigma machine. Despite skepticism from his colleagues and superiors, he develops a prototype computing machine that ultimately helps change the course of the war. The film also explores Turing’s personal struggles, as he later faces persecution for his homosexuality. At the heart of the story are his relationships with fellow codebreaker Joan Clarke (Keira Knightley), his fight against societal norms, and the recognition of his invaluable contribution to modern computing.
