The Darkest Hour

The 2011 American-Russian science fiction action film directed by Chris Gorak and written by Jon Spaihts follows a group of young people caught in an alien invasion in Moscow. Entrepreneurs Sean (Emile Hirsch) and Ben (Max Minghella) arrive in the Russian capital to pitch their software but are betrayed by their partner Skyler (Joel Kinnaman), who has already sold a knockoff version. Upon emerging, they find the city deserted and learn that the creatures detect electromagnetic signals. They encounter engineer Sergei (Dato Bakhtadze) and Vika (Veronika Vernadskaya), who have developed a device to weaken the aliens' defenses. Discovering a chance for evacuation via a submarine, the group embarks on a perilous journey, facing numerous challenges and losses.
