The Girl with the Needle

The 2024 Danish-Swedish-Polish feature film, directed by Magnus von Horn, is based on the true story of serial killer Dagmar Overbye. The main character, Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), is a woman masquerading as a caring nanny who, in early 20th-century Denmark, committed murders of infants entrusted to her care. The film explores her complex relationship with a young mother, Karoline (Victoria Carmen Sonne), who, unaware of Dagmar's true nature, entrusts her with her child. As the plot unfolds, Karoline begins to notice oddities in Dagmar's behavior and gradually uncovers the horrifying truth, leading to a tense climax.
