The Invasion

A 2007 American science-fiction thriller directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, this film is a remake of the classic alien invasion story. Set in Washington, D.C., the plot follows the mysterious outbreak of an infection after a space shuttle crashes to Earth. Psychiatrist Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman) notices unsettling behavioral changes in people around her. Alongside her colleague, Dr. Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig), she discovers that the infection has an extraterrestrial origin, transforming humans into emotionless beings while they sleep. When Carol learns that her son Oliver (Jackson Bond) is immune to the infection, she fights desperately to protect him and to save humanity. The film also features performances by Jeffrey Wright and Veronica Cartwright.
