The Muppets

The 2011 American musical comedy film directed by James Bobin, written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, serves as the seventh theatrical Muppet film and a reboot of the franchise. The story follows Walter (Peter Linz), the world's biggest Muppet fan, who travels to Los Angeles with his human brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) to visit the Muppet Studios. There, they discover that greedy businessman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) plans to demolish the Muppet Theater to drill for oil unless they can raise $10 million. Walter, Gary, and Mary team up with Kermit the Frog to reunite the long-disbanded Muppets, including Miss Piggy, now a fashion magazine editor in Paris; Fozzie Bear, performing in a Reno casino; and Gonzo, a successful plumbing magnate. Together, they organize a telethon to raise the necessary funds and save the theater. The film features original songs, including "Man or Muppet," which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Numerous celebrity cameos appear throughout the film, such as Jack Black, Selena Gomez, and Neil Patrick Harris. The film was praised for its humor, music, and nostalgic appeal, grossing over $165 million worldwide on a $45 million budget.
