Carnival Night

A 1956 musical comedy directed by Eldar Ryazanov. The film takes place on New Year's Eve, as the staff of a cultural center prepares a festive concert. However, their plans are threatened by the dull and bureaucratic director Ogurtsov (Igor Ilyinsky), who wants to replace the joyful program with boring speeches. The young and energetic Lena Krylova (Lyudmila Gurchenko) and her colleagues decide to prevent the celebration from turning into a formality. The film became a cult classic thanks to its light humor, memorable musical performances, and the unmistakable atmosphere of a Soviet New Year.
