Afonya

A 1975 lyrical comedy directed by Georgiy Daneliya. The story follows a plumber, Afanasy Borshchov (Leonid Kuravlyov), known simply as Afonya. He leads a carefree life, enjoying fun, drinking frequently, and avoiding work whenever possible. However, beneath his lighthearted demeanor, his life gradually turns into a series of disappointments. Everything changes when he meets the kind and sincere Katya (Evgeniya Simonova), who sees something more in him. Filled with subtle irony and heartfelt warmth, the film became one of the most beloved in Soviet cinema.
