The Shining

A 1980 American psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. The story follows writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel in the Colorado mountains. He is accompanied by his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and his son Danny (Danny Lloyd), who possesses psychic abilities known as "the shining." As the isolation and supernatural forces within the hotel begin to affect Jack, he descends into madness, leading to terrifying consequences for his family.
