A 2011 British-German-French action-adventure film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, this adaptation offers a steampunk-infused retelling of Alexandre Dumas's classic novel. The story begins with musketeers Athos (Matthew Macfadyen), Porthos (Ray Stevenson), and Aramis (Luke Evans) stealing Leonardo da Vinci's airship blueprints with the help of Milady de Winter (Milla Jovovich), who betrays them by selling the plans to the Duke of Buckingham (Orlando Bloom). A year later, young Gascon d'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) arrives in Paris aspiring to become a musketeer and soon joins the trio to thwart the nefarious schemes of Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz) and his henchman Rochefort (Mads Mikkelsen). The conspiracy involves planting fake love letters and stealing Queen Anne's (Juno Temple) necklace to frame her for infidelity, potentially leading to her downfall and war with England. The musketeers embark on a mission to London to retrieve the necklace and avert disaster. The climax features an aerial battle over Paris, where d'Artagnan kills Rochefort and rescues his love interest Constance (Gabriella Wilde). Despite their victory, Richelieu continues his machinations, and Milady, having survived her fall, aligns with Buckingham for a renewed assault on France. The film blends historical adventure with fantasy and action elements, delivering spectacular battle scenes and visual effects.
