A South Korean girl group formed in 2015 by JYP Entertainment through the reality show "Sixteen". The group comprises nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. They officially debuted on October 20, 2015, with the mini-album "The Story Begins" and the lead single "Like Ooh-Ahh", which became the first debut music video by a K-pop group to surpass 100 million views on YouTube. TWICE quickly gained popularity for their vibrant image, catchy choreography, and melodic songs. In 2016, their single "Cheer Up" became a hit, earning them their first "Song of the Year" awards at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and Melon Music Awards. In subsequent years, TWICE continued to solidify their position in the industry with successful tracks like "TT", "Likey", "What is Love?", and "Fancy". They became the first K-pop girl group to win "Song of the Year" three consecutive times at the Mnet Asian Music Awards: in 2016 with "Cheer Up", in 2017 with "Signal", and in 2018 with "What is Love?". The group also achieved significant success in Japan, becoming the first overseas female act to achieve a rookie triple crown on the annual Oricon ranking in 2017. In 2021, their mini-album "Taste of Love" became the first EP by a girl group to top the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200. In 2023, TWICE was awarded the "Breakthrough Artist" at the Billboard Women in Music Awards, marking the first time a female K-pop group received this honor. The group actively participates in world tours, including "TWICELIGHTS" and "READY TO BE", and continues to expand their international audience. TWICE is also known for their openness in discussing mental health issues; notably, member Mina temporarily halted activities in 2019 due to an anxiety disorder, which garnered widespread support from fans. To date, TWICE remains one of the most influential and successful girl groups in K-pop history.
