A 1970 Soviet adventure film directed by Vladimir Motyl, blending elements of western, war drama, and comedy. The story follows Red Army soldier Fyodor Sukhov (Anatoly Kuznetsov), who, after the Civil War, is on his way home but becomes entangled in a battle against Basmachi rebels in the desert. He is tasked with guarding the harem of Abdullah (Kakhi Kavsadze), the leader of the bandits, who is on the run.
Sukhov is assisted by Said (Spartak Mishulin), a silent warrior seeking revenge for his fallen kin. Among the frightened and helpless women in the harem, one of them, Gulchatai (Tatyana Tkach), dreams of freedom. When Abdullah returns for his wives, Sukhov and his loyal comrade Petrukha (Pavel Luspekayev) must stand their ground for a final showdown.
