Bob Marley

Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist, born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. He began his musical career in 1961 with the release of his first single "Judge Not." In 1963, he co-founded the group The Wailers with Bunny Livingston (Bunny Wailer) and Peter Tosh, pioneering reggae by blending elements of ska and rocksteady. In 1972, they signed with Island Records, leading to international recognition. After Tosh and Wailer left in 1974, the group continued as Bob Marley and the Wailers with new members, including the female vocal trio I Threes. Albums like "Catch a Fire" (1973), "Rastaman Vibration" (1976), and "Exodus" (1977) brought global fame, with songs such as "No Woman, No Cry," "One Love," "Redemption Song," and "Get Up, Stand Up" becoming anthems for freedom and justice. Marley was a devoted Rastafarian, which influenced his music and lifestyle. In 1978, he organized the One Love Peace Concert, promoting political unity in Jamaica. He received the United Nations' Peace Medal of the Third World in 1978 and Jamaica's Order of Merit in 1981. He passed away on May 11, 1981, in Miami, USA, due to melanoma. Posthumously, he was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. His music continues to inspire millions worldwide, with the album "Legend" (1984) remaining one of the best-selling reggae albums in history.
