Divergent

A 2014 American science fiction action film directed by Neil Burger, based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth. Set in a dystopian future where society is divided into five factions: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. The protagonist, Beatrice "Tris" Prior (Shailene Woodley), discovers she is a "Divergent," a person who does not fit into any single faction. This makes her a target for the authorities seeking to eliminate such individuals. Tris chooses to join the Dauntless faction, where she meets an instructor named Four (Theo James). Together, they uncover a plot by Erudite leader Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet) to overthrow the government and seize control of society. The film explores themes of identity, free will, and social structure.
