Elysium

The 2013 American science fiction action film, written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, is set in the year 2154, where Earth has become overpopulated and devastated, while the wealthy elite reside on the luxurious space station Elysium. The protagonist, Max Da Costa (Matt Damon), an ex-convict working in a factory, is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation, leaving him with only days to live. To survive, he undertakes a dangerous mission: with the help of a hacker named Spider (Wagner Moura) and equipped with an exosuit, Max must infiltrate Elysium and extract data from the brain of government official John Carlyle (William Fichtner), which could disrupt the existing social order. Opposing him is the ruthless mercenary Kruger (Sharlto Copley), employed by Elysium's Secretary of Defense Jessica Delacourt (Jodie Foster), who is determined to maintain the status quo and prevent Earth's inhabitants from accessing the station.
