Equilibrium

A 2002 American science fiction film written and directed by Kurt Wimmer, starring Christian Bale, Emily Watson, and Taye Diggs. The film is set in a world where emotions and art are outlawed, forcing people to take a drug that suppresses feelings. The protagonist, Preston, is one of the most experienced soldiers trying to destroy rebels who want to bring back the former free society. After accidentally missing a dose of the drug, Preston "awakens" and begins to uncover suspicious inner workings of the regime that runs the totalitarian state. Preston joins the rebels and decides to help overthrow the dictatorship.
