I Am Legend

A 2007 American post-apocalyptic film directed by Francis Lawrence, it is an adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel of the same name. The plot centers on Robert Neville (Will Smith), a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, who finds himself the sole survivor in a desolate New York City after a cure for cancer mutates into a deadly virus that wipes out most of humanity. Neville lives in isolation, accompanied by his loyal German Shepherd, Samantha, and spends his days patrolling the city, scavenging for supplies, and conducting research in an attempt to find a cure for the virus. He broadcasts radio messages daily, hoping to find other survivors, but to no avail. The city is inhabited by infected humans who have turned into aggressive, nocturnal creatures. One day, Neville falls into a trap set by the infected and sustains serious injuries. He is rescued by Anna (Alice Braga) and her son Ethan (Charlie Tahan), who heard his radio broadcast and came to the city. Anna informs him about a survivor's colony in Vermont. Neville continues his research and discovers that his latest serum is effective. However, the infected locate his hideout and launch an attack. Realizing time is short, Neville hands Anna a vial of the serum and sacrifices himself to save her and Ethan. Anna and Ethan reach the survivor's colony, delivering the cure and a renewed hope for the future.
