The Road

A 2009 American post-apocalyptic film directed by John Hillcoat, it is an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel of the same name. The story is set in a world devastated by a global catastrophe that has wiped out nearly all plant and animal life, forcing the remaining humans to fight for survival, often resorting to cannibalism. The film follows a father (Viggo Mortensen) and his young son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) as they journey through a desolate landscape, hoping to reach the coast where they believe there may be a chance for a better life.
