Killing Gunther

The 2017 American action comedy film is a mockumentary that follows Blake (Taran Killam), a hitman determined to eliminate the world's most notorious assassin, Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Blake assembles a team of eccentric assassins, including his friend Donnie (Bobby Moynihan), an explosives expert; Sanaa (Hannah Simone), daughter of a legendary hitman; Gabe (Aaron Yoo), an inexperienced tech expert; and Ashley (Alex Duncan), Blake's elderly mentor who soon dies of a heart attack. The team is later joined by Izzat, a former Islamist extremist with a powerful robotic arm; Yong, who exclusively uses poisons; the psychotic twins Mia and Barold Bellakalakova; and Max, Blake's former partner. Their attempts to locate and kill Gunther result in a series of bungled encounters, as Gunther always stays one step ahead, setting traps and eliminating team members one by one. It is revealed that Blake's true motivation is jealousy, as his ex-girlfriend Lisa (Cobie Smulders) left him for Gunther. The film blends elements of black comedy, parody of assassin films, and satire of documentary filmmaking, showcasing Schwarzenegger's charismatic performance as the elusive and eccentric Gunther.
