Lost Highway

A 1996 American surrealist neo-noir horror film directed by David Lynch. The story begins with saxophonist Fred Madison (Bill Pullman) and his wife Renee (Patricia Arquette), whose marriage is in crisis. The couple starts receiving mysterious videotapes showing recordings of their home, intensifying Fred's paranoia. Soon, Renee is found dead, and Fred is accused of her murder, although he doesn't remember committing the crime. He is sentenced to death and placed on death row. However, some time later, guards discover that instead of Fred, the cell contains young auto mechanic Pete Dayton (Balthazar Getty), who has no knowledge of what happened. Pete is released and returns to his life but soon starts dating Alice (also played by Patricia Arquette), the lover of gangster Mr. Eddy (Robert Loggia). Pete becomes infatuated with Alice and agrees to help her escape from Mr. Eddy, leading to a series of events that blur the lines between reality and illusion. The film explores themes of identity, guilt, and reality, creating a convoluted and multi-layered narrative characteristic of Lynch's style.​
